Haiti - Security : Inauguration of the Fire Brigade station of Cap Haitien Airport

Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works, inaugurated in the presence of Irwing Méhu, Director General of the National Airports Authority (NAA) of the Interim Agent, Yvon Altéon, and several executives from the International Airport of Cap Haitien, the Fire Brigade station of Cap Haitien Airport...

The construction of the new building of the Firemen Corps, launched July 12, 2013 and completed in late November has cost more than $2.6 million (US 2,644,589.77).

The new premises with a total area of 819 m2 include service areas, of administration, parking, store, vehicle maintenance etc... The building is composed, among others, of a hallway, a dining room, a mixed dormitory, an infirmary, a communication room, an observation post and a technical room.

The water supply to the building and firefighters is achieved by a 30m3 tank in which 3 pumps are installed from a 160m3 tank built at the entrance of the airport.

President Martelly said he was proud of the realization of this project, which is added to the list of achievements of his administration and strengthen the Firefighter Corps service of Great North. He took the opportunity to thank and congratulate all those who contributed to the success of this modern building that meets international standards "These are the kinds of efforts that deserve the Haitian Nation, those that allow us to build and not to destroy, to move forward and not backward, to progress and not to perpetuate our dark traditions traditions of weaken ourselves under the pretext of claims," adding before cutting the ribbon and make the site visit "A fireman is a person who comes to fight fire and rescues in various other occasion, such as during accidents, assistance to people in difficulties... These facilities and equipment will give firefighters more resources to do their jobs and meet the needs of the population. The work we have done is for the people, it is your responsibility to protect them."

Taking advantage of this ceremony, the Minister Rousseau announced that "The airport terminal of Cap, a project of 26 million US dollars, will be launched soon."
