Haiti - Politic : Privert advocates more autonomy for communities

The de facto President Jocelerme Privert, met at the National Palace, a delegation of the National Federation of Mayors (FENAM).

During the meeting the Head of State initially stressed the need to move towards greater autonomy of communities to achieve true sustainable development. To this effect, he said that a support plan to the mayors is envisaged to improve the management of communities and enable them to better meet the needs of different communes.

Furthermore, as part of government actions to provide assistance to affected families following the passage of Hurricane Matthew, present mayors expressed their support to the approaches of the current administration to reach affected communities.

Following this meeting, Jocelerme Privert who said he was very concerned about community development and the revival of activities in the country after the passage of Matthew, addressed words of encouragement to members of the FENAM.
