Haiti - Social : Passing of Mrs. Joe Marie Judie C. Roy

Joe Marie Judie C. Roy (52) died in her home in Pétionville on Wednesday, November 30th. As a militant feminist and politician, she was very early in the fight for women's rights.

From 2006 to 2007, she was a consultant of the Women's Collective for the Political Participation of Women (Fanm Yo La) as part of the project to strengthen the skills of women parliamentarians;

In 2009, she became Head of Cabinet of the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women's Rights under the administration of Marie Laurence Jocelyn Lassègue;

From 2013 to 2014, she led the national awareness campaign around the application of the constitutional quota of 30% of women in public services;

In 2016 Judie C. Roy had returned to the Ministry of Women's Affairs as Chief of Staff of Marie Denise Claude, a position she held until her passing away;

Candidate for the presidency [in 2005, 2010 and 2015] Judie C. Roy made the fight against poverty the guiding principle of her electoral campaign.

"The Collective 'Fanm Yo La' [...] presents its condolences to her amily, friends and loved ones. The Collective also presents its sympathies to her colleagues in the Ministry of Women's Affairs, the Reparen Party and to the entire Haitian women's movement affected by this loss. [...] We keep from Judie C. Roy The memory of a woman who fought for her political convictions and plans. We keep from her the memory of a woman engaged body and soul in her work [...]"
