Haiti - Politics : Jérémie airfield soon rebuilt

In order to give a new image to the Aerodromes of the main cities of Haiti, Colonel Irving Méhu, Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN), has started since his arrival at the head of the Institution, a set of works aimed in particular at improving the reception facilities of these airports in order to offer a quality service to the customer.

While Toussaint Louverture International Airport is undergoing renovation https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21771-haiti-politics-follow-up-of-works-at-the-toussaint-louverture-international-airport.html , Colonel Irving Mehu is heading on the Jérémie's Civil Aviation, whose aerodrome located on No. 2 of the Town of Jérémie is in a very bad condition since the passage of the Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.

Today, Jérémie's airfield just exist as name, the water enters the site and the building whose roof was damaged, making uncomfortable the work of local employees of the AAN, particularly in the rainy season.

Moreover, this aerodrome little frequented by the airlines is deprived of a body of Fire brigades. The police officers working there work under difficult conditions without vehicles, motorcycles and premises... they face serious difficulties to ensure the security of the premises...

As for the track, the grass grows there and under the effect of the rains the track turns into swamp. Finally, due to the lack of frequent flights, local residents, motorists and animals use this track for their own purposes. At least three illegal routes to the track lead to private individuals like "Samarithan Purse", an NGO working in the area...
