Haiti - Reconstruction : At Davos, Bill Clinton requests help from Indonesia

Last Thursday, during the annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the former U.S. President Bill Clinton has asked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of the Republic of Indonesia, to help Haiti, which struggling to recover from the earthquake of January 2010. Indonesia has successfully completed its reconstruction following the tsunami in Aceh in 2004.

Bill Clinton also sent a similar request to the participants at Davos. Explaining that the people of Haiti still suffers from shortages of basic foodstuffs. Even if we have food and water, we can deliver this humanitarian aid than at 15 locations at the same time, due to insufficient number of vehicles.

Although many are experiencing shortages in Haiti, Clinton remains convinced that the Haitian economy can grow and become more powerful than ever. Citing the economy of Rwanda as an example "Four years after the genocide in Rwanda (1998), income per capita was 268 dollars. Eight years later, the per capita income is 1,100 dollars, don't tell me that Haiti can not do like that" affirmed the former U.S. President in front of the participants.
