Haiti - Politics : Installation of disabled executives at the Ministry of Education

Thursday, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, in the presence of the Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities, Gérald Oriol Jr., proceeded to the installation within the ministry of new executives, of special needs persons : Miss Carol Saul Célstin and Kerlange Paulema as senior technicians 1 respectively in the Directorate of Training and Development (DFP) and the Directorate of Administrative Affairs (DAA).

In welcoming these new executives , Minister Cadet insisted that this was not a favor, stressing that these people are graduates in education and administrative sciences, will put their skills at the service of the State by bringing their knowledge. Through this action, the Minister also intends to raise awareness of people with special needs who deserve the full attention of society, who must better supervise and support them.

Secretary of State Gérald Oriol jr. welcomed the Ministry's initiative for the disabled, which also has a contribution to make in the development of society, stressing "This is a commendable initiative that other institutions must follow in order to comply with the legal requirements that recommend at least 2% of these people in the public administration."

In addition, Minister Cadet announced state funding of university studies for 20 candidates with various forms of physical-visual deficiencies who passed their baccalaureate examinations. The Minister stresses that this action will allow these young people to realize their dreams by giving them the same chances as all the others, despite their handicap.
