Haiti - Politics : 7 Historical Sentences of Dessalines

Tuesday in Quito, capital of Ecuador, as every year Ecuadorian officials laid a wreath of flowers at the foot of the bust of Emperor Jacques 1st to pay tribute to the one who transplanted the Haitian revolution in America. They honor Dessalines who destroyed the system of slavery established in the New World since 1492 and express their respect for those who imposed human rights in the Caribbean and in America.

In Ecuador it is time to remember the 7 famous phrases of Jean Jacques Dessalines :

1 - "Let us swear to fight to the last breath for the independence of our country";

2 - "I want to keep with me only brave men. Let those who want to become French slaves come out of the fort. Let those, on the contrary, who wish to die as free men, rank themselves around me";

3 - "I make you all detonates if the French penetrate into this fort ".

4 - "After what I have done in the South, if the citizens do not rise up, it is because they are not men";

5 - "The blacks whose fathers are in Africa, will they have nothing ?";

6 - "We dared to be free, dare to be free by ourselves and for ourselves";

7. "What do I care for the judgment of posterity, provided I save my country ?"
