Haiti - FLASH : A priest shot dead in Pétion-ville

Thursday on the road of Frères, Father Joseph Simoly (54), well known in the Catholic milieu, was attacked not far from his home, by unidentified individuals circulating on a motorcycle, who shot him coldly with several bullets to rob him. Rushed to the Haitian Community Hospital located in Puits Blain, Father Joseph Simoly, mortally wounded, did not survive his injuries.

According to Inspector Gary Desrosiers, deputy spokesperson for the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Father Joseph Simoly had just completed a transaction in a bank before being the target of thieves while returning home.

His death plunged the Haitian religious community into pain and tears, leaving a church bereaved by the loss of this beloved Minister of God, who was one of the celebrants of the novena of the Immaculate Conception of Port-au-Prince.
