Haiti - Security : Gender violence, message from the PNH

Tuesday at the National Police Academy on the Road of Frères, as a prelude to World Women's Day (March 8), a gender-awareness workshop was held at the initiative of Canada.

During his opening speech, Michel-Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) declared :

"[...] I hope that these few hours we spend together will allow everyone to understand that the fight against violence against women is not only the fight of women, nor a fight against men. It's the fight of all men, women and society [...]

I would like to insist on these Spanish proverbs that should inspire us in the fight against violence against women and violence in general: 'The worst cowardice is physical violence', 'Who violent one, violent one hundred', 'Who is violent at home is violent everywhere.'

Let's say no to violence against women !

To all the women here, I wish you a happy feast and a good participation ! You do not deserve the whip, much lessthe stick. You deserve a smooth life, you simply deserve flowers."
