Haiti - Politic : Two important bills passed in the Senate

Tuesday in the Senate, the bill on "Reform of the status of the merchantand acts of commerce and organizing the trade register" adopted in the Council of Ministers on March 29, 2017 (Download : https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/projet-de-loiportant-reforme-du-statut-du-commercant-et-des-actes-de-commerce-et-organisant-le-registre-du-commerce.pdf ) and the one bearing the "Recognition and validation of prior learning and professional experience", previously voted in April 2017 in the Chamber of Deputies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20575-haiti-news-zapping.html , were unanimously adopted.

"Recognition of prior learning policies have contributed to the emergence of new social practices that imply a change in the social status of knowledge, which has short, medium and long-term repercussions in a number of social domains," stressed Senator Denis Cadeau, President of the Education and Vocational Training Commission https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11571-haiti-politic-toward-the-validation-of-professional-experience-in-haiti.html

According to this law "every employee has the right to recognize and validate the achievements of his professional experience" as stipulated in Article 2. However, the natural person who wishes to apply for validation of acquired work experience must accumulate a total of at least 5 years in professional activities performed on his own account or not and be in good standing with the tax authorities.

In addition, during this session, Senator Dieudonne Luma Etienne also tabled a "bill on violence against women" which was favorably received by the conscript fathers.
