Haiti - Education : Beginning of the process of regularization of teaching staff

Monday, April 16 during a briefing, Jackson Pléteau the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Education as announced and promised for several weeks, confirmed that the Ministry has started the process of delivery of letters of appointment to teachers in an irregular situation in the classrooms.

He confirmed that he had issued, on the instructions of Minister Cadet, a first batch of 500 letters of appointment to several high school principals. Among the first targeted public schools, he cited the Duvivier National High School, the Paul Eugène Magloire High School in Quartier-Morin and the Boirond Tonnerre High School in Cap-Haïtien. Pléteau said the operation was going to continue through all the Departmental Directorates of Education.

The school principals and censors, who were present at the announcement, welcomed the launch of this process which will allow the regularization of the situation of many teachers. What will produce the cessation of the movement of demands that regularly disrupt the operation of some schools.

By receiving the batch of letters destined for their school, the officials of Lycées had to sign a declaration of commitment according to which they recognize that the teachers who will be regularized actually work at their school thus assuming all the consequences which could result, in case false statements.
