Haiti - Economy : Program of 2 million euros of subsidy for the export enterprises

Under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), the Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA) and the Office of the EDF National Authorizing Officer organized a presentation of a new grant program , to dozens of Haitian entrepreneurs of Small and Medium Enterprises (MPE) who have export potential.

This Program, which aims to increase the competitiveness of the private sector in Haiti and the Caribbean Region and strengthen the capacity of SMEs in the Region to develop in the national and international market, has a budget of 2 million euros and is aimed at SMEs in the 14 Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member countries and the Dominican Republic.

This program emphasizes market penetration, value and supply chains, traceability, access to finance, promotion of green energy and energy efficiency as cost-cutting and mechanism-driven factors of targeted trade approaches.

Legally recognized SMEs with at least 2 years of existence have until 4 June 2018 to submit their application files. In addition to being recognized the company must submit its financial statement, complete the form on the Caribbean Export website and submit it to the relevant authorities. Let's clarify that this is a Fund Repayment Program, which means that the beneficiary must have all the funds needed to finance his project and the reimbursement will be 70% of the committed funds. Project costs must be between 10,000 and 50,000 euros.

The selection of projects will go through a call for proposals process at regional level. Given past experiences in Haiti where entrepreneurs have had a lot of trouble filling out their file, experts have been recruited to help them.
