Haïti - Mexique : Clinique Mobile pour les haïtiens de Tijuana

Following a series of meetings, the Mexican and Haitian branches of the NGO AIDS Healthcare Foundatio (AHF) and the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico City have decided to provide medical assistance to Haitians living since the end of 2016 in Tijuana, (low California, Mexico) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21654-haiti-mexico-in-tijuana-and-mexicali-nearly-77-of-haitians-regularized.html

The past weekend, a delegation of 13 doctors, psychologists and administrators of the two branches of the AHF, conducted two days of medical care together with two Haitian doctors living in Mexico City Dr. Jackencesse Paul and Dr. Dickens Duclair.

This Mobile Clinic, under the supervision of the Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico, Guy Lamothe and his team, offered several hundred Haitians basic care through a general consultation, and screenings HIV, tuberculosis, cholesterol... and provided them with free medication.

The first day (Saturday) was held on the tourist passage of Tijuana, the second day (Sunday) was held on the ground floor of a Protestant church in Tijuana led by two pastors (Mexican and Haitian).

For ambassador Lamothe this mobile clinic, which is in its first edition, is the result of a strategic reflection that after having found that the migratory status of compatriots did not allow them to fully benefit from the benefits of Mexican social security ( IMSS) has negotiated with this international NGO to allow Haitian migrants to benefit from health care.

The mobile clinic should soon go to Mexicali where also many Haitians live.

Mikson Antoine, head of public relations, said that this activity, which is a first in the AHF-Haiti operations, will serve as a model to serve other countries where there is a large Haitian community like in Brazil, Chile, Peru and the Dominican Republic. So far, Digicel is the only company in Haiti that supports this program.
