Following the fire, of undetermined origin that broke out in the night of June 11 to 12 at "Mache Bwa" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24646-haiti-flash-violent-fire-at-mache-bwa.html the Communal Administration of Port-au-Prince "[...] thank the Town Councils of Carrefour, Delmas, Petion-Ville and firefighters of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, which came in reinforcement to help stop the spread of this devastating fire [...]"

While deploring this tragedy that affects many market traders and the economy of the capital, the Town Hall "[...] press the police and judicial authorities to conduct an investigation around this fire to determine the causes. It took the opportunity to draw everyone's attention to the need for deep reflection on this phenomenon of public markets fire that has become recurrent and find solutions."

"[...] The Communal Administration presents its sympathies to the victims, while reassuring them that it will remain in solidarity with them in these difficult times. "

Recall that this new fire is the 3rd in Port-au-Prince since the beginning of the year after the Iron Market https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23556-haiti-flash-the-iron-market-ravaged-by-a-fire.html , and that of the market "Nan gerit" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23596-haiti-flash-the-public-market-nan-gerit-ravaged-by-a-fire.html

For the Municipal Council, it is "now a State question that should challenge all the forces of the Nation," stressing that "the problem of fire not only affects the City of Port-au-Prince, but the entire national economy, which is suffering enormous losses and has a certain negative impact on the economic growth of the already deficient country."

The Port-au-Prince City Council invites all the authorities concerned, the Ministry of the Interior, the Civil Protection, the National Police and others, to collaborate with it in the development and implementation of adequate measures to to stop this plague permanently.
