Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Demonstration against President Moïse

Friday, several hundred members, supporters and sympathizers of the local branch of the opposition have took Friday the streets of Petit-Goâve, to demand the departure of President Jovenel Moïse, browsing several neighborhoods in the city center including the national road #2 chanting "À bas Jovenel" and other slogans hostile to the Head of State.

According to Piere Joseph, a colleague of the local press, armed civilians dressed in shirts prevented the demonstrators from crossing the Pont de la Digue forcing them to turn back. The situation degenerated at the level of Séradòt Market (national road #2) where individuals in the demonstration threw stones against the police who reacted by dispersing the protesters.

Moreover, in a note published on social networks, Pierre Augustin, spokesman of KÒD, thanked the population for their bravery and said "Despite threats, pressure and intimations of all kinds, several hundred Petit-Goâviens took part in the demonstration on Friday."

For the members of the opposition, this first demonstration is a success whereas for the militants of the PHTK the party in power, it is a failure because of a weak mobilization and violence...
