Haiti - Diaspora : 7 years later the BRH finally reveals the details of taxes collected on transfers

For the first time in over 7 years, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) has released the monthly report since 2011 of levies of US $1.50 tax on all transfers into and out of the country, in the framework of the National Fund for Education (FNE) initiated in 2011 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-3027-haiti-education-the-tax-on-money-transfers-comes-into-force-on-june-1-2011.html

According to this report more than 120 million (120,130,745.50) have been collected since July 2011 on remittances from the diaspora. Of this amount, more than 117 million were paid into the Treasury account. The FNE account at the BRH shows a remaining balance of just over 2 million dollars (2,370,151.50).

Sign of delayed transparency of the BRH, hope that the Central Bank now informs us of the amount collected as a tax on telephone calls https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-2993-haiti-education-it-s-not-a-tax-but-a-surcharge-on-the-tariff.html and that the Moïse/Céant Government, in turn, produce us a detailed report of the detailed use of these millions of the diaspora.
