Haiti - Tourism : La PoliTour celebrates its 5 years

The Tourist Police (PoliTour), a specialized unit of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) celebrated this week its 5 years of existence and services within the Haitian tourism sector.

Recall that the PoliTour, created under the Minister of Tourism Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin in 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8356-haiti-security-acceleration-of-the-creation-of-the-tourist-police.html has for mission to monitor the tourist sites and monuments of the country, guide tourists and take action against any individual adversely affecting the tourism sector.

Since then, this force has not stopped growing. Of the 50 police officers who have undergone a rigorous and adapted training to integrate this new structure, the force of the Politour now stands at 138 members, which it is preparing to double soon.

"The Politour is one of our priorities and for this new exercise 2018-2019, the Minister of Tourism Marie-Christine Stephenson and I, we will strive to improve their living conditions and service," said Andy Durosier Director General Ministry. Recalling that the Politour works with the Ministry of Tourism in establishing a vital security climate for all operators in the tourist chain as well as potential tourists wishing to visit Haiti.
