Haiti - Security : The Armed Forces of Haiti, will include 30% of women

Tuesday, at the opening of the seminar on civil protection, human rights and gender equity, training provided by 5 senior officers of the Mexican army as part of the bilateral cooperation Haiti-Mexico https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25712-haiti-security-mexico-strengthens-its-military-cooperation-with-haiti.html Enold Joseph, the new Minister of Defense announced that he would include more women in the army, in order to respect the quota of 30% of women included in the amended Constitution.

While thanking Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and senior army officials for always responding to the Haitian nation's calls during difficult times and natural disaster situations, he stressed that the revitalization of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H) was the cornerstone of the cycle of the new Haiti of which all citizens dream; recalling that "the support desired by the Mexican army is linked to the historical, democratic and professional trajectory of the country's defense forces, linked to the vicissitudes of the Mexican people" adding that this training seminar was a starting point for creating a new impetus in military cooperation between the two nations

Until next Friday, the members of the armies of the two countries will exchange their experiences and the results of these meetings will serve as a basis for rooting the vocation of the FAd'H.

Major areas of collaboration include disaster management, civil protection, military service and the possibility of training Haitian soldiers in Mexico.
