Haiti - PetroCaribe : Laurent Lamothe did not show up at the Prosecutor's Office

As part of the PetroCaribe file, following the invitation of Me Clamé Ocnam Daméus, the Commissioner of the Government at the Court of First Instance of Port-au-Prince https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25884-haiti-news-zapping.html the former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe did not appear Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Procuratorate of Port-au-Prince. His lawyers in a letter dated October 23 to Commissioner Daméus explain :

The Citizen Laurent Salvador Lamothe and his undersigned lawyers, Me Mario Delcy, Me Edwin F. Coq and Me Staley Gaston, have acknowledged receipt of your October 19, October 4, 2010 invitation at 4:25 pm of your invitation dated October 19 by which you ask him to go to the prosecutor's office of this jurisdiction on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11:00 am in the context of "an open and ongoing investigation at the level of the Procuratorate of Port-au-Prince."

We are surprised by the total absence of delay of notice between the date of the summons and the date of the hearing requested.

We are all the more surprised by such a measure from the Port-au-Prince Public Prosecutor's Office, since the Bar of Port-au-Prince has been observing since October 11, 2018, a work stoppage formally prohibiting lawyers from this Law Society the provision of all judicial services.

With the foregoing it is impossible for Mr. Lamothe to comply with your invitation without the assistance of his lawyers.
