The Directorate General of Migration (DGM), informs that migration control operations were conducted, following intelligence work and complaints from the Dominican population concerning the presence of Haitian in a irregular situation in different sectors of the provinces : Azua, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, La Vega, La Altagracia, Montecristi, Santiago de los Caballeros, Valverde, the national district and the municipalities of Santo Domingo West and East.

Migration control teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) with the support of the military, the National Police in coordination with the Public Ministry of the Provinces concerned.

1,167 Haitians were controlled during these operations and 877 (75%) were declared in irregular migration situation and led to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña, to be registered and deported to Haiti in accordance with the provisions of Law 285-04.

In Valverde the controls took place in the areas of Jicome, Guayacanes and the municipalities of Esperanza and Mao. In the Grand Santo Domingo : Ensanche Ozama, Alma Rosa, Lucerna, Hainamosa, Admiral, Los Corales, Los Frailes I and II, Tropical East, Barrio Nuevo, Hipodrome, Ensanche La Fe, Cristo Reyy Arroyo Hondo, among others.

In the Province of Hermanas Mirabal sectors : Barranca, El Manantial, Damajagua, Jayabo, Peñón Alto and the municipalities of Salcedo and Villa Tapia.

In Montecristi, Haitians were controlled in Palo Verde, El Puente, Villa Lobo, Villa Elisa, Palo Blanco and the municipality of Villa Vásquez and Bávaro in La Altagracia.

Lieutenant General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of the DGM, informs that he will continue to strengthen these control actions and others aimed at identifying all persons in irregular migration situation throughout the national territory.
