Haiti - Security : Bilateral meeting of senior military and police from Haiti and DR

Friday, a high-level meeting of military and police from Haiti and the Dominican Republic, met in Jimani (Independencia Province) at the El Rodeo Fortress, with the aim of putting in place measures aimed at to ensure and enhance security in the border region, in order to combat smuggling and cross-border crime.

This bilateral meeting was chaired for the Haitian delegation by Brigadier General Sadrac Saintil, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and Michael Ange Gédéon Commander of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).

On the Dominican side the delegation was chaired by Rubén Darío Paulino Sem, the Minister of Defense and the Commander of the Dominican National Police (PND), Ney Bautista Almonte.

The two delegations were complemented by regional police directors who command border towns both in the North and South as well as various advisers.

Key points raised by delegations included : security, smuggling, drug trafficking and criminal acts, including common incidents that often occur along the border.
