Haiti - Japan : Chancellor Edmond present at the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito

Haitian Chancellor Bocchit Edmond officially represented Haiti during the enthronement, on October 22, of the 126th Emperor of Japan, Emperor Naruhito (59 years) after the abdication of his father, Akihito, on May 1 for reasons health.

The sumptuous ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, in front of nearly 2,500 guests, dignitaries and many Crowned Heads of State from over 180 countries.

At the State banquet following the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito, Bocchit Edmond was honored to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Keisuke Suzuki, Japan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, received Chancellor Edmond.

Suzuki welcomed the visit of the Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Japan and emphasized that Haiti is an important partner that shares fundamental values.

Chancellor Edmond thanked Japan for his support in the areas of health, food and education, among others, and indicated that he also wanted to strengthen cooperation with Japan.

At the end of the meeting, the two men, who also exchanged views on the local situation, agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
