Following the failure of the ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Daniel Gérard Rouzier, to the Chamber of Deputies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-3217-haiti-flash-politic-prime-minister-designate-rejected-update-5-14pm.html The Senator Youri Latortue, President of the Senate Committee of Inquiry on the corruption and electoral frauds has declared :

"I think that Mr. Daniel Rouzier, is a citizen who wanted to serve his country. As Prime Minister, we share his vision. But since there are several stages before assuming the role as Prime Minister, especially the vote of the documents [...] it is necessary to comply with the principle and rules that give the role to both Houses, to vote by a simple majority, the documents. Unfortunately, the Chamber of Deputies did not vote for, so the Head of State will have to submit another Prime Minister.

In the report [of the committee responsible for examining the documents], it is said that the documents are consistent with the Constitution, other problems are not supposed to be raised, but given that they have been raised [by the Deputies] I think that in this Assembly, there were policy [instead of a strictly technical vote]."

Personally, the Senator Latortue has asserted "I was favorable to the general policy of Prime Minister."
