Haiti - Education : Towards a partnership aiming to support the masters and doctorates offered by France

In order to set up a partnership to strengthen teacher training programs, increase scholarships and mobility for teachers and students in the Haitian education system, Magny Durce, Secretary of State for Training accompanied by William Savary, member of her cabinet, received in her offices Hajaahi Pascal, Cooperation Advisor and Director of the French Institute of Haiti, as well as Poirier Thomas, Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy.

This partnership aims to support masters and doctorates offered by France, as well as research projects in the various university laboratories in Haiti.

Measures for the revival of general propaedeutics were discussed with a view to setting up professionalizing short training standards in collaboration with the University Institutes of Technology (IUT) of France, the Regional Public Universities (UPR) in Haiti and the CEGEPs of Montreal and the United States.

It was agreed to involve young Haitians in the ELAN program (Linguistic Exchanges and Innovative Learning), relating to the mobility of young people in the Caribbean, by integrating vocational and technical training, through internships for graduating learners.

Furthermore, at the end of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on teaching French as a foreign language, the promotion of which was largely ensured by the Office of the Secretary of State for Training, the two institutions plan to support the certified by setting up a monitoring and support program.

It was also envisaged the creation of a joint doctoral program in conjunction with the universities of Haiti.
