The communication office of the Prime Minister informs that the Government, through the Ministry of Public Health and Population, is carrying out actions in the fight against "a very contagious form of skin infection similar to scabies", according to the words of the Ministry of Health in its notice of January 28 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32888-haiti-alert-a-very-contagious-infection-detected-in-several-areas-of-the-country.html .

An infection that has affected for several days, inhabitants of several communes in the West.

On the instruction of Prime Minister Jouthe, the Ministry of Public Health has deployed mobile clinics since January 28 in the communes and communal sections of Carrefour, Pétion-Ville, La Gonave, Petit-Goâve and Arcahaie. Medicines have been distributed and/or administered to patients with this skin infection. Dinepa is active in supplying drinking water to the affected communal sections.

An awareness and information campaign for the general public and the affected areas is already underway. It covers personal hygiene, the use of drinking water, laundry and the treatment of infected clothes. Note that unsanitary conditions are fertile ground for skin diseases such as scabies.

The Government assures the population of its support and all the efforts aimed at eradicating this disease.
