Reduce economic inequalities, ensure respect for the rights of migrants and the needs of Haiti. These are the demands of the bishops, during a meeting in San Jose (Costa Rica) around the theme of the migration, to the authorities of North America and of Central America, stresses the Group of Support to Returnees and Refugees (GARR), a group of associations of support to the returnees based in Haiti.

The San Jose meeting brought together bishops representing the United States, Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala and representatives of Caritas Internationalis and a certain number of experts in the field of migration.

The letter of bishops to the authorities, expresses "their concerns about the return experienced by Haitians, and the political and economic insecurity that causes their expulsion of these States which represent for them a source of employment" the letter, continues the GARR, recommended the stop of the "flow of extradition" towards Haiti, and that until the country can recover from the impact of the earthquake that struck both Port-au-Prince than others Haitian cities, on January 12, 2010.

Finally, the bishops hope that asylum measures will be maintained until Haiti is able to welcome back its nationals.
