Haiti - Literature : Two Haitian books awarded to the «6th Afro-Caribbean Arts Awards»

Monday evening, on the occasion the 6th Afro-Caribbean Arts Awards, which reward the overseas artistic productions and from the French-speaking Africa, Frédéric Mitterrand, French Minister of Culture has proceeded to the presentation of awards. On the literature side the essay of Louis-Philippe Dalembert and Lyonel Trouillot "Haiti, une traversée littéraire" and the novel of Marvin Victor "Corps mêlés" have been awarded.

"Haïti, une traversée littéraire" proposes a voyage through the literature to discover Haiti otherwise. This anthology of texts selected by Louis-Philippe Dalembert and Lyonel Trouillot, will allow you to discover as well Marie Vieux-Chauvet that Jean-Price Mars or Jacques Roumain. So many writers, as many universe rich of particular emotions. The book is complemented by an audio CD of sound archives. The entirety of sales will be donated for the reconstruction of the National Library of Haiti, in partnership with the NGO "Libraries without borders"

"Corps mêlés" is the first novel of the Haitian writer Marvin Victor, this novel is a violent and chaotic monologue : that of Ursula, a desperate woman, walking through the streets of Haiti filled with ghosts after the earthquake of 2010. At 45, Ursula became a shadow, who drinks too much to continue to tell, as if the words could stop the chaos. This novel looks like a long poem tragic, supported by a writing disheveled where Marvin Victor made cohabit the past and present, the beauty of a country and the stench of a city broken. Preferring the fiction, he did not wished to attack frontally the January 2010 earthquake, daring the metaphor embodied by this lost woman, stunned, broken, but standing.
