Haiti - Social : Mgr. Launay Saturné, we must move from words to action

Mgr. Launay Saturné, the Bishop of the Southeast, reacting on the current political crisis, declared that it is more than a necessity today to provide the country with a government, four months after the installation of President Michel Martelly at the head of the country.

The number one of the Catholic Church in the South East indicated that the time has come for that "we must move from words to action [...] The absence of the Chief Government paralyzed the entire country. According to him, the obvious example is the postponement of the school year, which was to take place in September." However, the Bishop clarified that the Chief of Government must meet the requirements of the Haitian Constitution and must have in his heart, the aspirations of the Haitian people.

In addition, Mgr. Launay Saturné clarified his position with respect to the free education program launched by the President of the Republic. He indicated that this program must take into account the reality of the country and that the Head of State should also consider to establish, a program of vocational and technical education, allowing graduates of the country to have a job in hand after their classic study.

Mgr. Launay Saturné plead with the President Martelly in favor of better living conditions for the population: housing, health care, education and adequate education are some of the expectations of the Bishop who hoped one day to see "the winds of change blow on Haiti."
