France: Opinion on Haitian sanctions

"The reason there are international sanctions is because there is impunity in Haiti," said Fabrice Mauriès, the French Ambassador to Haiti at the end of his mission. The diplomat believes that these sanctions would be more effective if they were followed by legal proceedings against those sanctioned at the national level. According to him, the impunity that reigns in Haiti is the result of the inefficiency of the Haitian judicial system.

Haiti without a border gate for more than 8 months

Closing of a project on the Reduction of Gender-Based Violence

Marie Françoise Suzan, Minister of Women's Affairs, attended this week the closing ceremony of the project "Strengthening the leadership of Haitian women and girls to fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV)". Initiated by Refuge des Femmes d'Haïti (REF-HAITI), this project aimed to equip young people for better involvement in the reduction of GBV in Haiti.

Following the request for membership made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Jean Price-Mars Diplomatic Academy officially became a full member of the Conference of Rectors, Presidents and Directors of Haitian Higher Education Institutions (CORPUHA), by decision of the Board of Directors on August 20, 2024. This partnership will notably allow the holding of competitions throughout the national territory for the integration of young people from diverse backgrounds into diplomacy on a merit basis. It will also optimize the management of international scholarships and strengthen the representation of the Academy in the provinces.
