iciHaiti - BPH : installation of a recovery commission

Friday, August 30, 2024, the Chief of Staff Ruddy Mentor Representing the Minister of Economy and Finance and the Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), Ronald Gabriel, installed a Recovery Commission responsible for the management of the Banque Populaire Haïtienne (BPH).

The ceremony took place at the BPH premises in Pétion-ville, in the presence of the members of the Board of the BRH, Guy Lamothe Chief of Staff of the Minister of Planning, as well as senior management of the BRH and BPH.

This initiative, taken in response to the request of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, aims to stabilize and make this financial institution viable, while ensuring the protection of the interests of depositors and the stability of the banking system.

The Commission, composed of Mrs. Margareth Benoit (President), John Michael Alexandre (member) and Evenson Alphonse (member), will be tasked with conducting a diagnosis of the bank and submitting recommendations within 90 days. Their mandate includes, among other things, cleaning up the financial situation of the BPH and strengthening its governance.
