Access to drinking water a challenge

Access to drinking water remains a challenge in Haiti, particularly in rural areas. The Agency The United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) through the Health Services Improvement Program is addressing this challenge by introducing an innovative and low-cost approach, the "Tippy Tap" (container with a tap), in homes, schools and communities. At least 2,500 "Tippy Taps" have been installed by Kore Sante in the South region. By empowering Haitian communities to build "Tippy Taps" and combining this with hygiene and sanitation education, USAID is promoting access to inclusive and sustainable management of drinking water and sanitation for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.
