New Head of the PAP Police Station

On Thursday, October 21, 2024, Divisional Commissioner Luckner Dumond, Departmental Director of West-1, installed Commissioner Junior Lacombe as the new head of the Port-au-Prince Police Station. Taiwan doubles rice yield in southern Haiti

Since 2019, the Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) has been supporting the Association of Planters and Breeders of Warf Massey (ASPEWM) in the Southern Province, through the Rice Production Improvement Project. By creating a Rice Multi-Service Center. The TTM provides facilities for drying, milling and storing rice, thus improving processing efficiency and reducing costs. Through these efforts, ASPEWM has increased rice yields from 1.8 to 3.9 tons per hectare and expanded into activities such as selling ice cream and cold drinks since the project was implemented. DR : Slight drop in exports with Haiti

Despite the general crisis that Haiti is going through and the strained relations between the two nations of the island, exports from the Dominican Republic to Haiti amounted to 660.1 million dollars for the first 9 months of the year (- 7.1% compared to the same period in 2023). Exports to Haiti represent ± 6.8% of the total exports of the Dominican Republic in the world for this period. Among the nationally manufactured items most in demand in the border territory are cotton t-shirts worth 69.4 million dollars; Portland cement, for 37.4 million and wheat flour for 32.3 million, among other products.
