Haiti - Politics : Inauguration of a new military base for the FAd’H

Monday, November 18, 2024, Leslie Voltaire, President pro Tempore of the Transitional Council accompanied by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and members of the Government, took advantage of the commemoration of the 221st anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, to inaugurate the new base of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) named "Base Vertières" located in the commune of Tabarre, in the presence of the high command of the National Police of Haiti and the FAd'H and many soldiers among others...

The ceremony of the 221st anniversary of the Battle of Vertières took place on the theme "With the spirit of the Heroes of Vertières, Haiti will not perish."

President Voltaire, in his speech, paid tribute to the memory and courage of the virtuous heroes in the great battle they fought to liberate the country. He said that it was time for us all to come together to face all the challenges that prevent the country from moving forward.

Then he proceeded to the inauguration of the FAd’H military base which he presented as a major step in the advancement of the "Restoration of security in the country" one of the 5 priority projects of the Transitional Council.

He invited all the military to follow in the footsteps of the virtuous heroes of Vertières in order to help Haiti recover. Recalling that in the coming months, approximately 2,500 soldiers will receive training at the "Base Vertières" to help the country recover.

This new FAd’H base is built on an area of ​​more than 40,000 m2 and is designed to accommodate more than 2,000 soldiers and has suitable facilities, including to receive helicopters.

Army Chief Derby Guerrier thanked the Transitional Council for this base given to the Army and counts on it to help him find the means to allow the soldiers to recover all the areas under the control of the bandits. He invited all the military to do everything they can like the soldiers who led the battle of Vertière, so that Haiti can recover.
