Haiti - Politic : PNH Union gives an ultimatum

The SPNH-17, Haitian National Police Union (PNH) notes that the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), the Government and the National Police Superior Council (CSPN) have not given the police the necessary means to reconquer the lost territories.

The SPNH-17 gives the authorities until March 12, 2025 to provide clear signs that the country is on the path to security. If no concrete measures are taken, we will consider that the authorities have abandoned the population and the police in the hands of criminals.

"The union calls on the CPT, the Government and the CSPN to immediately take the following measures :

1. Declare a state of security emergency throughout the territory and suspend all unnecessary activities such as carnivals and other festivities.

2. Summon all police officers, especially those who worked with former officials and who are on site, to make them available within 2 days until further notice.

3. Release funds for security operations, i.e. money for intelligence, risk bonuses and food for police officers on the ground.

4. Place care units and ambulances in each area where operations are taking place to assist police officers and military personnel who may be victims during the interventions.

5. Reorganize the police by removing weak and ineffective police officers, such as those from the Central Directorate of the Administrative Police (DCPA) and the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), police stations and certain units that do not meet security needs.

Put in place leaders who can make good decisions and support police officers on the ground.

SPNH-17 asks all police officers to remain mobilized to stop the plan of death with all their strength !"
