On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Karibe Convention Center in Pétion-ville, the Ministry of Women's Affairs (MCFDF) celebrated International Women's Rights Day around the theme "Dwa, Egalite ak Otonomizasyon pou tout Fanm ak tifi" ("For all Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment")

In her speech, Pedrica Saint Jean, the Minister of Women's Affairs, paid a well-deserved tribute to women, saluting the strength, resilience and determination of all women and girls, who have been going through difficult times in recent years and who are forced to abandon their homes to seek refuge in sites that do not comply with safety standards.

She highlighted the efforts made by the Government to provide appropriate responses, through her Ministry. "Taking into account the specific needs of women is at the heart of the responses provided to displaced persons in the metropolitan area of ​​Port-au-Prince and other areas of the country affected by insecurity [...]".

In her speech, Maria Isabel Salvador, the head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), reiterated the call of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to recognize the fundamental role of women: “In Haiti, women represent more than half of the population, no sustainable project can be accomplished without their full involvement […] they must not be mere spectators of the decisions that shape the future of the country, but must be essential actors. Beyond a celebration, this day is a moment of truth to affirm loud and clear that women’s rights are neither an option nor a favor, but an imperative of justice.”

Presidential Advisor, (observer) agronomist Régine Abraham,v recalled that "women's rights are fundamental and non-negotiable", emphasizing the importance of women's empowerment through access to education, economic independence and decision-making. According to her, "a nation that hinders the emancipation of women deprives itself of progress and social justice".

This celebration brought together many personalities including: Mrs. Regine Abraham, Axène Joseph, the Chief of Staff of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Niola Lynn Sarah Devalis Octavius, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Joseph André Gracien Jean, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of electoral and constitutional matters, Maria Isabel Salvador, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, representatives of the United Nations system in Haiti, electoral advisers, executives of the MCFDF and other State institutions and leaders of civil society organizations, including representatives of women's and feminist organizations.
