As part of strengthening of the academic and scientific cooperation between the Republic of Haiti and the Kingdom of Spain, a new cohort of students is currently in Spain for the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. These students, selected for their academic excellence, will benefit from mobility programs offered by Spanish universities.

Among these students, three are being hosted at the University of Oviedo (UO) and one at the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC). They will pursue training in various disciplines, including applied linguistics and economics, to help strengthen their academic and professional skills.

This initiative is part of the strategic initiatives of the Embassy of Haiti in Spain aimed at promoting education and intellectual exchange, while facilitating access to international study opportunities for Haitian youth. Furthermore, these programs demonstrate Spain's commitment to the internationalization of education and support for students from third countries, particularly Haiti.

It should be noted that the UO's inter-university mobility program is the result of an agreement signed in June 2024 between the State University of Haiti (UEH) and the University of Oviedo. The URJC program, meanwhile, stems from negotiations led by the Haitian Diplomatic Mission for the integration of Haitian students into the Erasmus KA 171 Program, funded by the European Union.

These academic exchange opportunities contribute not only to improving students' skills but also to strengthening relations between Haiti and Spain.
