Constitution : Statement by the Prime Minister

On March 29, 2025, the day of the celebration of the 38th anniversary of the 1987 Constitution, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé declared, "For 38 years, the 1987 Constitution has been the foundation of our democracy, guaranteeing our freedoms and rights. But in the face of repeated crises, our nation must evolve. It is time to write a new page in our history. Young people, women, citizens, let us commit to a stronger Constitution, better suited to the challenges of today and tomorrow !"

Haitian roller skater Gesny Pierre-Louis, gold medal

On Friday, March 28, Haitian roller skater Gesny Pierre-Louis, born in Cité Soleil, won the gold medal in the "Free Jump in Inline Freestyle" category, with a jump of 1.35 meters at the 2025 Lucas Slalom Cup, which takes place from March 28 to 30 in Coruña, a port city in Galicia, Spain.

Before this competition, Gesny Pierre-Louis, who currently resides in Chile, was ranked 8th in the world.

Hunger : Stunted Growth in Children Under 5

In Haiti, the World Food Programme (WFP) needs $10 million to feed 1.3 million people, as brutal violence by armed groups has caused record levels of hunger and displacement. Half the population faces extreme hunger, and 25% of children under five suffer from stunted growth.

DPC : Better Prevention, for Better Protection

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) recently brought together its partners in Cap-Haïtien to improve the warning system for hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. The objective: "Better Prevention, for Better Protection." The discussions allowed for the finalization of clear operational plans : who does what, how alerts are circulated, and how to act quickly in case of danger. This is another step toward a faster and more effective response. A test alert was also conducted via SMS in certain areas. Civil Protection wants to ensure that everyone receives the right messages in time to take shelter.

Contraband : Arrest of a Dominican Police Officer

Dominican National Police Corporal Edward Recio Cordero, driving a black Honda Accord, was arrested by Dominican Army soldiers in the province of Elías Piña during an inspection at the El Higüerito checkpoint. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying 400 cartons of 10 packs of 20 Capital brand cigarettes, contraband from Haiti.
