Major Demonstration Canceled

While thousands of people were preparing to take to the streets against insecurity and the government, the demonstration was canceled and postponed indefinitely at the last minute by Samuel, the Canapé-Vert Brigade Chief and former member of the National Palace General Security Unit (USGPN), to prevent a massacre of the population. Samuel explained that several hundred individuals had been mobilized to massacre the protesters. Despite this cancellation, the already mobilized protesters took to the streets to express their anger at the authorities for their lack of security measures. They erected barricades of burning tires, blocked streets, and reported stone-throwing and vandalism of vehicles, despite the deployment of a large police and military presence.

Border : IOM Donation

Haiti's border management helps limit human trafficking and supports neighboring countries in managing migration flows. To strengthen border management, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) provided the PoliFRONT border police with hundreds of items, including bunk beds, office furniture, gas canisters, refrigerators, and sanitation supplies, to ensure better working conditions and greater operational efficiency.

France and the United Kingdom Concerned

France and the United Kingdom express their concern about the collaboration of criminal gangs to continue destabilizing the Presidential Transitional Council in Haiti. "We once again assure our collective support to the Caribbean Community and the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) in Haiti. Kenyan-led operations are assisting the Transitional Presidential Council and the Haitian National Police in their fight against criminal gangs and supporting their efforts to establish the stability necessary to restore democratic institutions and the rule of law in Haiti.

Mexico Visa : Appointment Rescheduling Dates

Due to the unstable security situation in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area, the Mexican Embassy in Haiti remained closed yesterday, April 16, 2025. Those with appointments for this date can arrive on Tuesday, April 22, Wednesday, April 23, or Thursday, April 24, by presenting the appointment confirmation sent by MiConsulado, or by emailing contactoembhai@sre.gob.mx.

Caribbean Culture Fund : 3 Haiti Projects Subsidized

The Caribbean Culture Fund (CCF) has announced the 50 projects across the Caribbean region that will benefit from its grants. These innovative initiatives span diverse creative sectors, including the performing arts, visual arts, literature, music, film, and multimedia. Three Haiti projects were selected :

• Amandine Saint Martin's "The Women Artists Mentoring Program" (Performing Arts);

• Louvenson Saint Juste's "My Non-Taboo Body" (Literature);

• The Vers le Sud Association for Education and Culture (AVSEC), "Vers le Sud Creative Residency" (Literature).
