Sunday evening, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by the new Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir and his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ady Jean-Gardy, was present at the Diplomatic Lounge of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport to welcome the famous TV star Oprah Gail Winfrey, host and producer of U.S. television talk show "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

The Chancellor reiterated the wish of his Ministry in favor of Business Diplomacy which will allow to attract investments of all kinds, o revive the economy and promote a rapid reconstruction of Haiti, and congratulated Oprah for its multiple charitable organizations and the creation of "Oprah's Angel Network", a charitable organization helping thousands of people in need around the world. After Katrina, Oprah donated $11 million for the reconstruction of homes in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

The Minister Laurent Lamothe wished a similar support in Haiti and encouraged the investment efforts of Oprah or its partners for sustainable development. The Chancellor was pleased that Oprah Winfrey has obtained this year, the Prize "Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award" for her philanthropy actions.

Ms. Oprah, thanked the Minister Lamothe for his welcome and promised to share her observations with objectivity. Literary critic and publisher of magazines, Oprah Winfrey, also actress, Oscar nominee, was ranked as the frican-American female personality the most generous, the most philanthropist and the second richest person in the world of investment and above all, the most influential in the international political world.
