Yesterday Monday, Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, participated at the opening of the ordinary session of the 49th Legislature.

In his speech of circumstances pronounced in the presence of Deputies and Senators met in the National Assembly, of the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Arnel Joseph, of Head of Government, Dr Garry Conille, the Cabinet and the Diplomatic Corps, the President of the Republic has promoted good agreement between the powers of the state so that 2012 is finally the year dedicated to the revitalization of the national economy.

Aware of the solemnity of his presence on the occasion of the opening session of parliament, the Head of State took the opportunity to convey his wishes to the Deputies and Senators and their families. Calling for more consistent reporting between the Executive and the Legislature, the President Martelly wish that during this new year the triple-type Liberty, Equality, Fraternity may be finally respected.

The President Martelly also reiterated its commitment to continue its way in meeting the key needs of the population through the main lines of government policy, such as education, the establishment of a framework conducive to business, structuring of SMEs, the promotion of investment and job creation. "The state as I see it must serve the citizen. It's this better Haiti for our children that must unite us," declared the Head of State which has placed particular emphasis on the peasant question that must be addressed through good policy planning.

The Head of State has once again mentioned the necessity of the establishment of a new national defense force, which should enable the state to regain control of its territory, monitor borders and ports, to respond to natural disasters and lend a hand to the National Police of Haiti (PNH). This will allow the country to regain its sovereignty and simultaneously facilitate the withdrawal of the United Nations Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (Minsutah).

The President Martelly believes that the national boat must take another direction and, to this end invites all sectors to contribute to enable the country to take the road to development for the benefit of all his son and all his daughters.
