XXV Central American Games : 5 medals for Haiti

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, which brought together some 40 Caribbean and Central American nations and more than 6,000 athletes competing in 40 disciplines, concluded on August 8, 2026. In the overall medal standings, Haiti finished 19th with a total of 5 medals : 1 gold medal for Jessica Lee in Taekwondo (under 62 kg category); 1 silver medal for Valentina Francesca Lalanne in Figure Skating; and 3 bronze medals: 1 medal for Ava Soon Lee in Taekwondo (under 73 kg category) and 2 bronze medals in boxing for Cedrick Bélony-Duliepre and Saintelise Jean.

GSF Deployed in Cité-Soleil and La Saline

The Gang supression Force (GSF) has been deployed to Cité-Soleil and La Saline following violent armed clashes between gang factions since August 6. The FRG is supporting the Haitian National Police to stabilize the area and reduce risks to civilians and essential infrastructure.

Justice : Jean-Charles Moïse Summoned

Former Senator Jean-Charles Moïse is expected to appear before the Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He will have to answer questions from investigating magistrate Jean-Denis Cyprien as part of the investigation into the assassination of Jovenel Moïse. This is the first time the leader of the Piti Desalin party has been summoned in this case.

Delmas 68 : Spectacular Accident

A spectacular accident occurred Saturday morning in the Delmas 68 area, severely disrupting local traffic. A heavy transport truck overturned and came to rest completely on its side, blocking a large section of the roadway.
