André Lemercier Georges, the Minister of Economy and Finance, installed last Friday, in the premises of the Unit for Combating Corruption (ULCC), Mr. Antoine Atouriste as new Director General. Was present at the ceremony, Richard Maurasse, Secretary of State for National Defense and representatives of international organizations. In his speech, Antoine Atouriste, Professor of Economics and Politics at the Faculty of Law and former Army Colonel of Haiti [in the Leopards Corps) declared "... to this appeal, I answer present and I am standing ready to meet the wishes of the Head of State, more than ever determined to fight corruption. I am happy to answer to this appeal of duty and of patriotism at a time where the ountry, more than ever need men, not those in favor of their own interests but those fighting for change [...] of living conditions of a people who faced many obstacles and a country struggling against many ills, including corruption [...]"

The Minister stressed during this installation "...I'm here to give you the commitment that the Government is ready to support you in the fight against corruption. The ULCC is one of the first institutions to have been visited by the President of the Republic, he came here, to give the Government's commitment of his administration to fight against corruption, a commitment to support you, but also a formal commitment to let you work independently, with confidence, without any pressure..."
