Mr. Bertolt Daems, the World President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), is expected today in Haiti Wednesday, March 7, 2012 to demonstrate the solidarity of the global network, to the young actors of this movement in Haiti, while making the promotion and popularization of the active citizenship in the process of reconstruction of Haiti.

During the 3 days that will last his visit, the President Daems will meet,among others: state authorities, ambassadors and actors of the private and public sectors in order to present the main guidelines and mission of the movement in the world, and the prospects of actions of this association in Haiti.

This visit of number of the JCI, fits into a context where JCI Haiti is currently developing its network across the country and strengthen partnerships with national and international institutions. JCI Haiti has currently 7 local organizations and is present in four departments in the country including the North (JCI Citadelle Henry), the Artibonite (JCI Saint-Marc), West (JCI Excellence, JCI Innovation, JCI Sublime et JCI Seven) and the Southeast (JCI Jacmel).

"The presence of Mr. Daems on Haitian soil will help strengthen the movement in the country while positioning it in the process of reconstructing of the country through his advocacy for the construction of the multipurpose center of Haitian youth, a flagship project of the Junior Chamber International Haiti (JCI Haïti)," said National President of JCI Haiti, John Walter DESTINÉ.

The President Daems argues that in a world full of challenges "there are now more than ever, a needs for a arge number of young people to find solutions," adding that in a highly interdependent world "it is the responsibility of the JCI to engage youth to take charge of the destiny of their communities, of their country and the world in general. JCI provides young people the tools, resources and opportunities to create change through targeted actions."

The Junior Chamber International Haiti is part of the worldwide federation of Junior Chamber International, whose mission is to give youth development opportunities to enable them to create positive change. This federation has nearly 200,000 members in over 110 countries.
