Haiti - Social : A boat with than 80 people boat ran aground at 50 feet from shore

More than 80 illegal immigrants from Haiti, are arrived Thursday in Mona Island (Isla de la Mona), west of Puerto Rico, declared in a statement the Department of Natural Resources and the environment (Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales - DRNA).

"On the morning of Thursday, agents from the Vigilance Corps stationed in the Natural Reserve of Mona Island (Isla de la Mona), west of Puerto Rico, have identified more than 80 illegal immigrants coming from Haiti," declared Daniel J. Kercado Galán, Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. The boat (Jireh) of 185 feet long, which was heading towards San Martin, ran aground near the area known as Carabinero, about 50 feet off the coast of Mona Island.

The staff of Vigilance Corps immediately alerted the Coast Guard, who, with staff of the Office of Emergency Management of DRNA, have transferred the illegal migrants to the ground. According to reports, the Haitian group consisted of 65 men and 19 women (includinbg 5 vessel crewmembers).
