Haiti - FLASH : A minibus struck the population

Yesterday to Poste Marchand, a minibus of public transport, ensuring the route Delmas - Portail Léogâne, lost its brakes, the brake system failure would occur at the level of the avenue Poupelard near the Church Saint-Antoine, in a descent before to struck the passer-bys, and the merchants of the place. According to the Directorate of Civil Protection, this incident has caused 24 casualties, including 8 in a very serious condition and three fatalities, including a pedestrian and two vendors.

The injured were transported to the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) where the staff was overwhelmed under this influx of patients, often in very bad condition.

The CPD, officers of the National Police and of the Stabilization mission of the UN (Minustah) went to the scene to help the population once again the victim of a lack of inspection of vehicles. The Government Commissioner, Me Jean Renel Sénatus as well as the Departmental Delegate of West Gonzague Edner Day also went on site.
