Haiti - Social : Pamela White on tour in the North and North-East

U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Mrs. Pamela White toured both the North and Northeast of Haiti, assessing different US Government-funded projects in the region of North and North-East of Haiti.

Upon landing at the Cap-Haitian Airport, Ambassador Pamela White went to the Charles Lebossé school to attend a ceremony where shoes and medicines were distributed to students as part of the Neglected Tropical Diseases Program, funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in support of Haiti’s Ministries of Health and Education.

Implemented by Research Triangle Institute (RTI), through the International Medical Alliance (IMA), TOMS shoe company donated footwear to the Charles Lebosse school students that will help protect them against the transmission of lymphatic filariasis in combination with their regularly distributed medications.

Afterwards, Ambassador Pamela White met Fernando Capellan, CEO of Grupo M, a company operating in the CODEVI Industrial Park located near the Dominican border in the city of Ouanaminthe, in northeastern Haiti. During the visit, the Ambassador took the opportunity to visit several industrial facilities where 7,000 Haitians are currently working.

To underscore her commitment to environmental protection, Ambassador White planted a tree at the CODEVI Park courtyard.

At the conclusion of her tour to the region, Ambassador White participated in a heads of jurisdiction forum in Cap-Haïtien. At the forum, the Ambassador announced the official deployment in the jurisdictions of Cap Haitian and Fort Liberté of the PROJUSTICE project, funded by the U.S. government, through USAID. The USAID-funded PROJUSTICE project, launched in 2009, aims to strengthen the judiciary and increase security through improved rule of law.
