Haiti - Economy : New air route Haiti-Cuba

Sunrise Airways, the new Haitian airline announced that it had received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Haiti and the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba (IACC) to operate new regular private flights between its home port, Port-au-Prince and Holguin, seaside town in the South-East of Cuba.

The company is preparing to launch the service in early fall. The new service will operate on a charter charter at the beginning. The company will offer the opportunity to book all-inclusive tours through SIREP Tours in Haiti and Cubatur in Cuba, The company will operate the service with its 19-seats Jetstream 32 aircraft.

"“This initial entry into the Cuban market is another important step toward our development plans, although this is only the beginning," declared Philippe Bayard, president of Sunrise Airways. "As we move forward, we hope to expand to other areas around Cuba, establishing even broader travel options for both tourist and business travelers in the coming months," adding that "Sunrise hopes to transition to regular passenger service as the market grows."

Remember that this is the second international route for the company, which launched August 26, 2013, the connection between Cap-Haitien and Providenciales (Turks and Caicos).

In addition, the company announced the appointment of Rodolfo Cueto Guerra as the new Director of Ground Operations. Mr. Cueto, a native of Havana, will be responsible for ground handling services covering all flights of Sunrise Airways.
