Haiti - FLASH : Two former ministers under Privert banned from leaving the territory

As part of a preliminary investigation, Clamé Ocname Daméus, the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance (TPI) in Port-au-Prince, sent a letter to the Director of the Immigration and Emigration Service asking him formally to "pass the necessary instructions" so that the former Minister of Economy Yves Romain Bastien and the former Minister of Justice Camille Edouard Junior under the administration Privert/Jean-Charles, be prohibited from leaving the country by air, sea and land.

The letter of Commissioner Daméus, does not specify the reasons nor which case motivates these prohibitions of departure...

Reacting to this ban Camille Edouard Junior "vehemently condemns any attempt to deprive me of my freedom of movement" he sees a politically motivated revenge action, which would come from the National Palace according to his information. Recall that Camille Edouard is behind the investigation and the charge for money laundering of Jovenel Moïse...

Yves Romain Bastien, the Commissioner of the Government does not have the competence to judge the action of a minister as part of his duties and qualifies as illegal this decision which violates according to him article 24 of the Constitution.

For its part, the Office of the Presidency rejects all allegations of involvement in the decision of the Government Commissioner.
