Haiti's Minister of Agriculture tours Grand'Anse

Minister of Agriculture Marcelin Aubourg, an agricultural engineer, toured the Grand'Anse department to oversee the various projects of the Resilient Agriculture for Food Security Project (PARSA).

This tour aimed to assess the progress of ongoing work in the department, particularly the construction of family water tanks and several kilometers of rural roads, designed to facilitate access to agricultural production areas and improve the living conditions of beneficiary communities.

As part of this tour, the delegation made its first stop in the commune of Pestel, where they inquired about the progress of the work carried out, notably the family water tanks built in the community of Deron, before discussing the impact of these projects with the beneficiaries. They explained that the 3,000-gallon rainwater harvesting tanks installed by the Ministry mark the end of a long ordeal and give the community hope for a more dignified life.

After Pestel, the ministerial delegation headed to the commune of Beaumont to inquire about the progress of the construction work on 300 meters of rural roads underway in the 2nd communal section of Chardonnette and in the locality of Dumois. The journey to Chardonnette also highlighted the extent of the difficulties the population faces daily.

During the delegation's visit to these communities, the residents, parishioners, and the parish priest warmly welcomed Minister Aubourg and the PARSA team. Smiling faces and words of gratitude punctuated the conversations with the sons and daughters of this communal section.

To conclude this supervisory tour, the Minister and his team visited the 9th communal section of Jérémie, Fonds-Rouge Torbeck. In this section, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), through PARSA, has already constructed over 350 linear meters of rural road using concrete strips, ensured the protection of the Hypollite spring, and resurfaced approximately 200 linear meters of dirt road. These infrastructures represent a genuine improvement in the daily lives of the population and open up new prospects for the development of the agricultural sector.
