Warning to Gas Station Owners

The Northeast Departmental Directorate of Commerce and Industry urges gas station owners to immediately cease supplying illegal fuel depots in the Northeast Department. Jacmel : Major Solar Project

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, as part of the "Renewable Energy for All" program, the Ministry of Public Works, through the National Energy Sector Regulatory Authority (ANARSE), signed an agreement with an engineering firm to carry out a major project financed by the World Bank to the tune of $7 million to build a 4 MW photovoltaic solar power plant with grid-connected battery storage in Jacmel.

A Mediation Commission proposed

A few hours after Mgr. Pierre André Dumas announced his withdrawal from the mediation process (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46636-haiti-flash-mgr-dumas-withdraws-from-the-mediation-process-and-explains-his-decision.html), some thirty political parties and civil society organizations, united within the Rally of Organized Forces (RANFOR), proposed the establishment of a mediation commission to conduct an inclusive dialogue. The commission is composed of Religions for Peace, the President of the Court of Cassation (who is also President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary - CSPJ), the Ombudsman, the Federation of Bar Associations, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti.

USA : $8 Million for the Arrest of 3 Terrorist Leaders

The United States is offering rewards totaling $8 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction of three gang leaders operating in Haiti, according to information released by the U.S. Embassy. The three men are Jimmy Chérizier, alias "Barbecue" ($5 million), leader of the "Viv ansamn" coalition; Vitel'Homme Innocent ($2 million), leader of the "Kraze Barye" gang; and Joseph Wilson, alias "Lanmò San Jou" (US$1 million) one of the leaders of the "400 Mawozo" gang coalition. The U.S. Embassy encourages anyone with information to use the FBI's secure channels and anonymous reporting platforms.

France Supports Haitian Customs

France, through the French Development Agency (AFD), Expertise France, and its European partners, supports the modernization of Haitian customs by funding projects and mobilizing French and Haitian experts.

On Thursday, January 15, 2026, Frantzdia Gilles, Chief of Staff of the Ministry for the Status of Women, accompanied by Hémanex Gonzague Désir, Coordinator of the Minister's Office, and other members of the cabinet, met with trainees, women, and young mothers from the Professional Center for the Future of Haitians (CPAH) and the Community Development Center (CEDEC). These trainees in Windows technology, surveillance camera installation, and nail care expressed their gratitude to the government.
